Michael Shofi

Michael has studied music for well over a decade with concentrations in many areas.  He began by learning classical vocal techniques specific to golden age musical theater, jazz, and choral singing.  After graduating high school, Shofi flew out to Ohio to continue his studies at Baldwin Wallace University pursuing a Bachelor's of Music in musical theatre.  He has a deep appreciation and respect for the foundation classical training provides and continues to study the art form to this day.  With that being said, Shofi has a strong passion for writing folk/rock/punk music.  He began to focus more intently on contemporary sound and singing techniques when he transferred colleges and began studying with Chris York at Pace University.  Chris has been a brilliant mentor in helping Michael merge classical training with stylish, contemporary techniques.

Currently, Michael teaches guitar to a large roster of students at The Piano Workshop at Bergen County in Midland Park, NJ.  He also accommodates with online virtual lessons and can commute for in-person guitar/voice/songwriting lessons in certain circumstances.

Michael Shofi's mission is to help guitarists, vocalists and musicians like himself find a place for contemporary and classical technique in every facet of performance.
